Tasks at hand
First, my colleague from the night shift hands over the machines to me. I find out if everything went smoothly or if there is anything I specifically need to pay attention to during my shift.
The logistics department provides me with the raw parts at the machine and I start my day by positioning the parts. I monitor the machine, measure, check and pack the parts into designated containers according to work instructions. While the machine is running, I make sure the hall is kept clean and tidy.
Today’s challenge
A machine breaks down and has to be repaired by maintenance. Hopefully they’ll get the problem fixed quickly so that we can still produce the planned quantity.
Highlight of the day
A new colleague joins my team and I show him how everything works. It makes a nice change. I think we will get on well together.

Tasks at hand
After checking my boss’s calendar and the incoming mails, I start the tasks for the day. Signatures have to be obtained and documents scanned and filed. I am the contact person for all organisational matters involving management. I coordinate appointments and am responsible for organisational charts and company files.
Today’s challenge
A new contract has to be drawn up, but I don’t have much time. Fortunately, I already have experience in this and also some templates that I can use as a guide.
Highlight of the day
Today, is the 60th birthday of a colleague from the late shift. He’s receiving a gift basket from management, which I organised. It’s also the day we hold the editorial meeting of our company newspaper, which I always look forward to.

Tasks at hand
Since my job requires me to drive to all three locations, I get to the respective location early around 6.30am. Then I check and answer emails, make phone calls and attend appointments, inspections or meetings. My weekly inspections in the halls allow me to maintain personal contact with all of the employees, foremen and supervisors. A lot of problems can be addressed or clarified on site. Furthermore, I am in close contact with the necessary authorities, such as the employers’ liability insurance association, occupational health service, TÜV, fire brigade, DRK (German Red Cross) and so on.
Today’s challenge
In a select committee, we were finally able to release the final version of our explosion protection documents for the Saalfeld site, after six months.
Highlight of the day
Every Wednesday I look forward to seeing a colleague I’ve known for a long time.Working with him and exchanging experiences is very important to me. There was homemade cake in the neighbouring office. I love cake.
